3rd Annual Plein Air Paint Out

The Annual Plein Air Paint Out has become THTLT’s “signature event.” It is a unique way to recognize the diversity, beauty and magnificence of the region. A Paint Out is a group of artists painting together, typically en plein air – a French term meaning “in the fresh air.” As artists paint outside, the public is invited to visit with the artists, observe their work in progress and ask questions. The event began in 2008 at the Trenton Falls Gorge Trails, and 2009 at Constable Hall.

The 2010 Plein Air Paint Out will be held Saturday, September 25th at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery. The event is in conjunction with the 15th Annual Salmon River Hatchery Open House and the celebration of "National Hunting and Fishing Day." The hatchery holds activities, seminars, and demonstrations throughout the day, geared toward youth and families.

The Plein Air Paint Out will feature artists painting at both the hatchery and the Salmon River Falls. Paintings created throughout the day will be auctioned off that evening at the benefit auction. The auction will be held at the fish hatchery and all proceeds will benefit Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust.

Tug Hill Paint Out 2009 joins Constable Hall’s Arts & Crafts Fair and Antique Car Show

Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust is holding it’s Second Annual “Tug Hill Paint Out 2009” fundraiser! Come watch 19 of the region’s finest plein air artists paint the colorful scenes from 9am - 2 pm at historic Constable Hall amongst the 18th Century gardens in full bloom, stunning vistas of the Black River Valley, and all the fair activities. Chat with the artists and browse the Gallery Sale Tent for something to add to your collection. Then purchase a painting you watched being created by your favorite artist at the Live Benefit Auction that evening down the street. The Art Preview Wine & Cheese Reception will be held at Constableville Auction Hall at 4:30pm with the Live Benefit Auction starting at 5:30pm. Tickets on sale now for $10.00, call 315-779-2239. All proceeds go to Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust for their land protection and education programs in the Tug Hill Region.

After the success of last year's Paint Out at Trenton Falls, we look forward to hosting new and returning artists for the Second Annual Tug Hill Paint Out. This year we are joining the Constable Hall Association at their Historic House Museum, Constable Hall,in Constableville, NY. William Constable, Jr. began construction of the lovely Hall in 1810, on the pattern of a family-owned estate in Ireland. The beautiful 18th Century formal gardens designed in the shape of St. Andrew's Cross will be in full bloom for Father's Day. The Association's Annual Arts & Crafts Fair and Antique Car Show will provide additional festivities for all to enjoy, and give the artists a rich variety of subjects to choose from for their artwork. The Paint Out allows visitors to interact with talented artists from across the region as they paint on-site for the day. At the end of the day, their Plein Air paintings may then be purchased at a benefit auction in Constableville. Proceeds from the auction will go toward the land conservation and educational programs of Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust. Look for more details on this event to be posted periodically.

Trenton Falls Gorge will be the site for the first invitational plein air event, the "Tug Hill Paint Out 2008". The first of it's kind in the Tug Hill region, the event will be held along the visitors trail at Trenton Falls Gorge on October 11, 2008. Sponsored by the Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust, in cooperation with Brookfield Power Company and the Town of Trenton, this is a special opportrunity since the Trenton Falls Gorge trails are only opened to the public four weekends a year.

Participants in this premier event will donate one or two paintings created that day to be sold at auction that evening. Proceeds will benefit Tug Hill Tomorrow and in return artists will receive publicity and have an opportunity to interact with the public in a very unique way.
